What You Will Learn:
This workshop and training seminar
will focus on the design of structural best management practice (BMP)
facilities. It will address the basis
and background for why stormwater quality and quantity management is important
for the protection of the receiving water bodies.
Emphasis will be on sizing and the
design details of various types of structural BMPs, including:

Porous
pavement
2.
Porous
pavement detention
3.
Porous
landscape detention (i.e., rain gardens)
4.
Filter
basins
5.
Extended
detention basins
6.
Retention
ponds
7.
Minimizing
effective impervious areas
8.
Swales
9.
Other
BMPs
Course Coverage:
Volume
3 of the Urban Stormwater Criteria Manual published by the Urban Drainage and
Flood Control District will be used as the primary reference; however, some of
the other design techniques and facilities will also be examined. The workshop will provide hands-on experience
in working problems. Bring your own
laptop (Windows 98 SE and Excel 97 or newer editions required) and take back
the software, spreadsheets and your own work back to your office at the end of
the class.
Software (Installed on Your Personal
Laptop) and Laptop Computers Provided:
A limited
number of laptop computers will be available in the classroom. You are
encouraged to bring your own Laptop if it is loaded with Excel 97, or higher,
and Windows 98 SE, or higher operating system.
Needed software package(s) will be provided for installation. Please indicate on the registration form if
you will bring a laptop, or will need one provided.

participate as guest lecturers, ensuring a rewarding experience for those
attending the seminar.
